Vertical Haven

We all get hurt when that person we love so much won’t return it. I read an article about this guy lamenting his first love. I can feel the hurt he’s still carrying with him through all these years. Pathetic, you’d probably think. But this person really left a big mark on him.

I remember one of my best friends falling head over heels in love with this woman. He was willing to do everything for her. She already had a kid then but he’s willing to be the kid’s father. At 19, he was ready to settle down and be the responsible husband and father that he is. The woman went away without saying goodbye to him. Why? She met a rich man who she thought would give her and her son a better future.

To this day, when my best friend reminisces about the past, he smiles a very sad smile when the woman is mentioned.
