Being the eldest…

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

I can and will do everything for my family. If it means sacrificing something, then so be it! It’s always been like that. Sometimes, actually, it makes me think whether that’s the right approach to things. I may be making things too easy for them.

But we’ve been through a lot. Who wants to make their love ones suffer anyway? Who wants to see her siblings having a hard time? Not me.

My sister was having problems with her boss. She would often come home from work looking haggard and stressed out. She would tell me about how her boss made her day difficult. She was being bullied each and every day! As her older sister, my protective instinct kicks in whenever I hear her being bullied. I want to go to her office and give her boss a dose of her own medicine! Of course she’s old enough to fight her own battles but still…

I think you never stop being the oldest in the family. I know I won’t.

Fascination for years

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

My aunt was asking me the other day about gold coins. It seems that a friend of hers bought some and she showed it to my aunt. She is now interested in purchasing some, too, and it will be an investment, that’s what she will tell her husband. I know they are in the middle of a big house renovation right now so her husband wouldn’t want to spend on other things but since it will be an investment, my aunt is sure that he will give in.

My aunt is an investor. She loves investing in non-traditional products. Gold is a fascination of hers for years now and since she knows that it will give her a good return, she will really invest in it. She is finding out more about it at USGoldBureau.com now.

Reminded me of mom

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

A new template from Agi of Grumpy Cow. Do you like it? The reason why I bought this template is that, whenever I see this in Agi’s site, it reminded me of my mom and me when I was a little girl. Obviously, I loved my mom. And now that she’s gone already, anything that will remind me of the good times is welcome.

I am sorry for being too late on posting this one. Busy offline life called.

Great week everyone!

Pancit Canton

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Pancit Canton has become a comfort food to me already. I do believe so does with my family. We have two choices for today. There’s Lucky Me Pancit Canton which is a quick cook instant noodle pack that can be bought for eight pesos in the country.

LuckyMe Pancit Canton

My sisters, brother and I always go for the original flavor mixed with the spicy hot one.

There’s also the Long Life Pancit Canton of Savory. This one we really, really love! Just take a look at the photo below and tell me if you didn’t drool over it…

Long Life Pancit Canton

Yummy!

For those who are not Filipinos or Chinese, Pancit Canton is served as a snack or as a substitute to rice. It’s like the local version of a pasta. And it is specially served during birthday celebrations as a symbol for long life.

Slowly…

window

Slowly but surely. I got declined but then I got an approval from another one. It is true, what they say… when God closes a door, somewhere He opens a window. Happened to me. It can happen to you, too.

This arrangement might even be better for this blog. I’m taking it one day at a time for this one. We’ll see how the situation goes. For now, I am quite content.

cupcakes

Don’t you just feel like spending time with your mom and your sisters when you see lovely cupcakes ready to be eaten? The cupcakes remind me of sunny afternoons spent on our terrace sipping cold drinks while talking about anything and everything under the sun.

Happy Monday!

A Haven

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Sometimes, when the world seems so cruel and relentless, there is nothing left to do but retreat. When other people retreat to other places physically, I retreat inside my mind. I reminisce… I envision the future.

But I love the former the most. I love looking back and reminiscing about all the good things from the past. Those things somehow, one way or another, have inspired me in each and everyday of my life.

Welcome to my Vertical Haven!
