Should’ve been 55

Wisteria

Flowers, most specially, remind me of my mom. She loved flowers and anything floral. She used to have floral tops and skirts. She also loved any decor that had flowers in it.

I saw this photo of Wisteria and it immediately reminded me of my Mommy. Last February 1st, she would have been 55 years old. If she was still here with us, we would have thrown a party for her. Or we would have gone out of town, somewhere we know she would enjoy.

Too bad she was taken away from us when she was just 48…

Orchids…

Orchids

My mom loved orchids. When we were younger, she used to have orchids at home and would spend so much time taking care of it. She had a variety and she was so proud of it. I can’t remember anymore what happened to it but I do know that she was able to sell some and then the orchids were gone. Like she’s gone now…

It’s her 6th death anniversary today. Whenever we go visit her grave on November 1st, we bring a bunch of orchids for her. We know that wherever she is the orchids will surely put a smile to her face. We had her remains exhumed and cremated and her urn, together with that of my brother’s and grandma’s, is at the Garden of the Word in Christ the King Church. We will be bringing some flowers for her and will be staying there for a brief period. Just to be with her and be reminded of her.

I miss my mom so much.

Oldies music

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

During Sundays, most of the radio stations here in the country turn to old songs. I love listening to 50′s music. It brings back so many childhood memories. No, I am not a child of the 50′s. I was born in the 70′s. But growing up, my mom loved listening to the oldies.

Listening to old music now, remembering my mom… and wishing she was still here.

Doting parent

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

There is nothing more inspiring than to see a parent doting on his/her child. It’s like a shot to your heart! You will feel this immediate positive feeling where you either remember how it’s like to be doted upon by your own parent(s) or you feel like showing someone that you love them.

I’ve seen this again and again and each and every time it reminds me of how my mom used to dote on me and my siblings. She’s the best mom when it comes to doting, I swear to you! You can whine and all that and she would try to give you everything you wanted.

AM radio

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Don’t you just feel like there’s a typhoon whenever the AM radio is on?

I do feel that way. Maybe because when I was a kid, my mom used to turn on the radio to listen to news updates whenever there’s a typhoon in the country. She would wait for the announcement if classes would be suspended or if there were flooded areas near the school.

So whenever I turn on the radio and put it in the AM frequency, expect me to feel nostalgic.

Old songs and mom

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

This song always reminds me of weekends spent quietly at home…

Old Photographs by Jim Capaldi. An old song. And old songs remind me of my mom. And how much I miss her…

How much I regret that now that I can bring her to places she’d always wanted to go to, she’s not here anymore. There were restaurants we couldn’t go to before because we didn’t have enough. Now that I have enough, she’s no longer with us.

Mom…

mum

I was so touched when I saw this postcard from PostSecret. And of course, it reminded me of my mom. My mom who I could no longer hug and tell I love her. My mom who was the best ally I ever had. My mom who loved me for who I was and never sided with other people but me.

I truly miss her. I wish she’s still with us…
