Surprise meet up

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

I went inside the church to take advantage of the mid-afternoon quiet. I wanted a quiet place so I could talk to Him in peace. I was seated in an area by the door when a group of individuals wearing nursing scrubs passed by. I didn’t mind them as I was busy praying when all of a sudden someone tapped by shoulder. It was my high school friend!

She was there with her nursing classmates and they came from the hospital where they were interns. We haven’t seen each other for a couple of years so we ended up catching up until early evening! We didn’t notice the darkening skies because we were too busy talking. We missed each other a lot! She was one person who could understand what it was to be the eldest and have siblings looking up to you. We were kindred spirits.

And I was so happy to learn that we are still kindred spirits. It was like we never had those years of non communication at all.

Plans for the home

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

I have a lot of plans for our home. Not only am I talking about repainting the walls and changing the decor. I am also talking about change in flooring and lighting! I also have my eye on double bowl undermount sinks for the kitchen as well as the one we have outside in the laundry area. Tiles for the bathroom and new built-in closets!

I swear if I only have enough funds to spend I will be hiring a couple of workers to do everything I want done at home. I want to use the summer to finish every item I planned so that by the time rainy season comes in, we will all be relaxing already.

Mister Milk Man

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

Mr. Buddy is our local milk man. He has a herd of cows in his huge backyard that he milks everyday and the milk he sells in front of his house. You can always see him wearing his overalls and his funny cow-like hat. Every Friday afternoon, he gives out cold milk in small cups to little kids.

My dad said that Mr. Buddy used to have a shop with his wife. They sold not only milk but also other dairy products. But when his wife passed away, he closed the shop and concentrated on his cows.

Mister Milk Man is now close to 70 years old and we, the little kids who grew up knowing him, are all praying he live up to a hundred and more!

Painting the walls

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

I am saving up to have the walls in our whole house repainted. I will begin with the walls in our living room. The paint already peeled in some portions and it’s not pleasant to look at anymore. So it will be paint the walls and change the wall decor as well as the switchplate covers to match the new paint.

It’s a lot of hard work and a big fund need to be allocated for it. But we will be living in this place so a spiffy one is in order!

I just hope the fund needed will come in these next few weeks so we can have the wall painting as well as some minor renovations done over the summer.

Sick grandma

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

My paternal grandmother is now confined in the hospital. She was not feeling well and felt so weak that my aunt rushed her to the hospital. The attending doctor in the emergency room told them that grandma had to be confined because a series of tests had to be done on her. She’s been in the hospital for the past three days and so far all the necessary lab tests were done already.

We visited her yesterday and when she heard that the ekg machines were free to be used and she had to be wheeled in for another test, she suddenly got nervous about it! We had to tell her that we wouldn’t leave until she came back and that’s the only time she calmed down.

It’s really a must to have a healthcare plan these days. You don’t know when you will need it specially if you are already a senior.

Game from the past

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

One of the games from the past that I played was yoyo. When I was a kid, boys and girls had their own yoyos and everyone knew how to play it. We knew how to do the tricks. We were all very active players, I tell you.

I am just reminded of my former love for yoyo when I saw diabolo online and I heard my brother talking about it. I told him how we used to be so active in playing yoyo and how I knew some of the easy tricks. I tried but I am now rusty so I think I need to brush up on my yoyo skills and let my brother see how good I was.

Swimming love

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Another set of kids I know who loves to swim are the kids that my sister tutors. One boy and two girls. All three of them are siblings and just love swimming every single day, rain or shine. Their parents already bought pool supplies for their own pool so that they can enjoy every day after school. Once they get home, my sister will start tutoring them on their homework. Once all their homeworks are done, they can then proceed to their favorite activity which is to swim.

I wish we also have a pool at home so that my little girl can also swim as much as she wants.

Relaxing Sundays

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

It will be relaxing Sundays starting next month for Irish and her kids. She got a pentair pool pump for her newly built swimming pool in her backyard. Her kids love to swim so she thought instead of paying in public pools every Sunday, she’d just have one installed at home. And she did.

Now it will be relaxing Sundays at her backyard pool beginning this weekend. It will surely be a lot of fun since she also invited her kids’ playmates and their mommies.

A makeover

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

This place near where I live is having a makeover. I think the deliveries that came last week were indications what the makeover will be about… rustic decor for some rustic feel at home! No wonder the facade of the house is now looking like a log cabin from afar. I think they used some tiles on it that look like wood or something. It’s pretty interesting as you don’t see that kind of house often in a city.

But hey, to each his own. If the family living in that house wants their home to look like a castle, so be it! It’s their home, anyway.

Dance to the beat

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

My little girl just loves dancing. Whenever she hears a song with an upbeat tune, she will break out into a dance with steps I don’t know where she learned. She wants me to play music videos via youtube and I just have to find a youtube downloader just so we both don’t have to suffer through a long period of buffering time.

Right now she dances to several tunes so I keep that on for whenever she feels like dancing within the day. And that will have to be at least three times! Ha! Ha! Ha!
