There was a big mall sale here in the city last July 30th to August 1st. There were so many things you could buy at really cheap prices. But you know what? I was only able to buy a few items plus my sister’s cellphone gift to me. That’s substantial already but there were home items we wanted to buy that time.
Unfortunately for us, when there’s a mall-wide sale like that, it seems that we don’t have enough funds we can tap into. It’s been like that. Always.
The One Above might be telling us that we don’t need the ones that we can’t buy. Maybe that’s it. Or maybe next sale will be the one when we can buy a lot?

There’s only one restaurant in Manila that we frequent when we were kids and there’s a special occasion to celebrate. Max’s Restaurant. We loved that branch in Tomas Morato. I have so many good memories of our lunches and dinners there, of birthdays celebrated.

I can and will do everything for my family. If it means sacrificing something, then so be it! It’s always been like that. Sometimes, actually, it makes me think whether that’s the right approach to things. I may be making things too easy for them.
But we’ve been through a lot. Who wants to make their love ones suffer anyway? Who wants to see her siblings having a hard time? Not me.
My sister was having problems with her boss. She would often come home from work looking haggard and stressed out. She would tell me about how her boss made her day difficult. She was being bullied each and every day! As her older sister, my protective instinct kicks in whenever I hear her being bullied. I want to go to her office and give her boss a dose of her own medicine! Of course she’s old enough to fight her own battles but still…
I think you never stop being the oldest in the family. I know I won’t.

My aunt was asking me the other day about gold coins. It seems that a friend of hers bought some and she showed it to my aunt. She is now interested in purchasing some, too, and it will be an investment, that’s what she will tell her husband. I know they are in the middle of a big house renovation right now so her husband wouldn’t want to spend on other things but since it will be an investment, my aunt is sure that he will give in.
My aunt is an investor. She loves investing in non-traditional products. Gold is a fascination of hers for years now and since she knows that it will give her a good return, she will really invest in it. She is finding out more about it at USGoldBureau.com now.

Pancit Canton has become a comfort food to me already. I do believe so does with my family. We have two choices for today. There’s Lucky Me Pancit Canton which is a quick cook instant noodle pack that can be bought for eight pesos in the country.

My sisters, brother and I always go for the original flavor mixed with the spicy hot one.
There’s also the Long Life Pancit Canton of Savory. This one we really, really love! Just take a look at the photo below and tell me if you didn’t drool over it…

Yummy!
For those who are not Filipinos or Chinese, Pancit Canton is served as a snack or as a substitute to rice. It’s like the local version of a pasta. And it is specially served during birthday celebrations as a symbol for long life.

Don’t you just feel like spending time with your mom and your sisters when you see lovely cupcakes ready to be eaten? The cupcakes remind me of sunny afternoons spent on our terrace sipping cold drinks while talking about anything and everything under the sun.
Happy Monday!

My uncle is encouraging my dad to buy gold coins. He’s been investing in it for years and finds the returns on his investment to be satisfying. My uncle is the type of person who takes risks. He would invest in something different like gold coins but after only a thorough research done on it, of course. The money he is investing is his retirement fund so he will not jeopardize it.
At the US Gold Bureau, you can learn more about gold investment. If you are interested in gold like my uncle, the site is there for you to use as a resource site about gold, silver and other precious metals investments. Visit USGoldBureau.com now.

Life is unfair. I have never been more sure of this than now.
My grandma, as I’ve said in a previous post, is currently very sick. She is bedridden due to diabetes. She has bedsores and is in pain. We couldn’t do anything anymore for her. It’s gone that bad already.
She has been a very good provider for her siblings when they were growing up. She is the eldest and even when her siblings got married, she was their go-to person in times of trouble. Even our relatives would go to her for help. But look at her now, suffering, and those people whom she has helped don’t even visit her. It’s really unfair! Shouldn’t good people be treated kindly in their old age?
Ah, life! I wish it will treat me kindly in the future. Unlike how it is treating my grandma now.

Vino is getting new car grills today. He met a minor accident and got his grills broken because of it. He was scared his dad will get mad at him but instead his dad was really concerned about what happened. Not only will he get funds for the car grills but he will also be enrolled in a driving course this weekend. Vino’s dad wants to see for himself that he really can be left alone to drive.
Anyway, he is getting the grills from CARiD.com, a web site where you can find car accessories for every brand of car there is. Go ahead and check it out now, just like what Vino is doing.

I was very lucky growing up. I had doting aunts, a grandmother and grand-aunts. They all made me feel loved and appreciated and I think they are the reason that I am strong and capable of so much more.
I spent most of my childhood at my grandma’s house. During weekends and school breaks, you could find me there all the time. In fact, I wasn’t that close to my siblings when I was younger because I spent most of my time with my male cousins who also live beside grandma’s house. I loved those days I spent at my grandma’s simply because I got almost everything I wanted while I was there. My grand-aunt would cook whatever dish I wanted. I got to play as long as I wanted and I didn’t have to do the dishes while I was with them. My grandma would make sure that I was well-provided for all the time.
Can you imagine how devastated I am right now that my grandma is very sick? She is bedridden already and is suffering from diabetes. And I can’t do anything but watch her slowly fade away.
My heart is in anguish. I can’t bear to look at her because my heart breaks into tiny pieces just seeing her breathing shallowly.
If only I can take her place I’d do it.

When it comes to financial decisions, I always consult my dad. Even if I am already old enough to decide on my own, I still value the advice of my father more than ever. So now that I am thinking of investments, I am asking for his advice. He thinks it’s best to buy gold bars as investment just for the main reason that gold never goes out of existence.
According to the site of the US Gold Bureau, buying gold has been recognized as one of the best way to preserve man’s wealth. I do believe so. Come with me as I visit USGoldBureau.com now.

It’s Father’s Day this coming Sunday. My siblings and I are preparing a simple celebration for my dad. Just us. We’re thinking of lunch out, possibly at our favorite restaurant. Or we can prepare lunch here at home, complete with cake and ice cream.
What do you think?
Last year, it was a special dinner out. Then we gave him gifts. I don’t know what the final decision would be. I will let you know.

Lovely flowers remind me of my mom. She loved flowers. You could just see the joy in her eyes when we would give her a bunch of flowers or even a single rose. She just loved it. So whenever we visit her grave, we make sure we bring flowers with us.
It’s our way of saying we remember and that she will always be in our hearts…
